Chair slips

Coming back to my thinking about how the RED hall chairs are going to stand out and clash so harshly with my soft turquoise colours....

Shane and Margaret had a great idea.... tell me what you think.... They once bought 100 white sheets for really cheap from hotels in Penticton for drop cloths for painting... What if I used that material (only the whitest of the white) to make EASY chair slip covers? I'm not talking about form-fitting, super sewen chair covers because that would be way too much work. If I could borrow one of the chairs from the hall for a month or so I could work on the project. I could cut the sheets to size, then lay a piece over the chair form it by hand to the shape I want... here is where it gets interesting... staple it in the shape... hear me out... and then flip the chair cover inside out and one would never know there were staples used... that is Shane's idea. Do you think it could work? Then I would use turquoise bows like shown in the previous posts and wrap them around the backs of the chairs.

Decorating the Hall

I tried to find more turquoise decorating schemes to give me
ideas and these are what I found:

Beautiful eh?

How beautiful would this be?

If we could only put bows and covers on the chairs....

The chairs at the hall are included... but they are RED but renting covers is $5/chair... it would be cheaper to rent different chairs at $1.50-7.00per chair... just a thought, but probably will just go with the chairs provided

I like this "I DO"... that would be simple, probably could get some wood letters at Michaels and paint them!

More bows on the chairs!

A turquoise decorated hall

... more again

Boxes with flowers as a centre piece... interesting

Close up of bows on chairs...

Turquoise beach wedding with lime green accents...

Another colour I love turquoise with.

This is too bluish... but same idea with the table runner

Flowers and candles with a blue vase

When Greg and I were at Costco the other day, they had out a bunch of Christmas stuff (already) and they had huge rolls of wired ribbon like pictured above... we found roles of bluey/turquoise (more blue than turquoise but it is beautiful) shimmery see through material and bought four rolls... so we have them to do things like make bows on the railings, vases, chairs perhaps?...

Let's Go Virtual Dress Shopping!

I was surfing around the other night on the net with my wedding in mind, lol, and I started looking at ideas for my wedding dresses... sort of a preliminary "like/don't like"...
the following are all likes for various reasons.
Oh, and before I start, I should mention that I prefer dresses that are NOT strappless... but that is a difficult thing to come across as about 95% of all dresses today are strapless.
I love how "flowy" this dress is,
and the fact that it has cute straps
and a bit of a train.

I love the halter-style neck line and lots of material,
but I don't want my wedding dress to look like a quilt!

I like the neckline in this one and I like the wrap around front look,
I think this style is flattering on most figures.

I love this halter style.

This is a beautiful dress and I wouldn't be suprised if my dress ends up being fairly similar to this one. I love how big and poofy the bottom half is and I really like the off the shoulder little sleeves.

Again, another off the shoulder sleeved dress, with a veil!

This is a nice style, but I don't think I like those
straps as much as the ones above.

Another dress with straps, not totally in love with this one.

DETAILS I LOVE

The laced back... classic

Tie bow in the back from the halter style neckline.
TURQUOISE DETAILS

Around the bust line... I hadn't thought of this, but I like it.

Bow hanging down in the front.

Huge sash hanging down in the back... like this one.

And TA DA! My favourite sash.

Here is a picture of random strangers wearing the colours.

A Visual

These are the colours I think would be nice in my bouquet, but with

green hydrangeas and maybe pink lilies rather than roses.

Some excellent news, I will be able to have fresh green hydrangeas as part of the bouquets! When I was at Linden Gardens I noticed they had lots of bushes of both green and pink hydrangeas blooming and so I enquired as to their season. Ken (the owner) is willing to make up my bouquets with the green hydrangeas. I was also thinking of asking him about using some for the tables at the reception... they are so fluffy that one poof ball of them is enough for a vase.

I LOVE LOVE LOVE this picture, I stumbled across it and it is what I had imagined for my wedding. It is actually pretty difficult to find pictures of weddings that use
turquoise and silver as the main colours.

Save the Date

It is finally set, the date of
September 13, 2008
will be the day of our union.

We have booked
Linden Gardens
as our ceremony site
and the
Penticton Curling Club
as our reception hall.

I have so many ideas and thoughts for the planning of our wedding that I thought I'd start a new blog to track those plans with.
