Wedding Dress

I bought it!!!! I went shopping with Karen on the weekend and now I have a gorgeous wedding dress, veil, and tiara on order :) I ordered the very first dress that I tried on that Margaret came with me shopping for and the most gorgeous veil (with lots of beadwork) and a sparkly tiara to go with it. I can't believe how easy it was to find this dress. It will arrive in May and then I'll have time to get the alterations done in the summer time. I'll just say it is strapless (not sure if going to have it made into a halter style or not yet), it has beadwork across the chest area, it is tafetta, and it has a long gorgeous train with beadwork down the zipper area that bunches into a bussel for dancing later. I can't wait to walk across the little bridge and through the flowers and trees at Linden Gardens to Greg :)

Flower Girl's Dress

I was talking with Susie tonight and she has the most fabulous idea for the
flower girls Lorelei and Ava....

She found this dress on Etsy and can be custom ordered in turquoise for example and it has hydrangeas on it which is one of the flowers we are using. It could be really cute if we could get the dress in turquoise and get pink/light green hydrangeas on the dress (which match our flower colours). I think Amber will probably end up wearing a dress similar to either the bridesmaids and she can be a junior bridesmaid/flower girl or she could wear a white dress similar to a wedding dress....we'll see. Thanks Susie for the idea... I ABSOLUTELY LOVE IT!!

Here is just a skirt, but it is the right colour.

Invitation Protypes

Here are some protype invitations I have been working on...

Champagne Toasting Flutes

Greg and I were
looking at champagne
toasting flutes today
and noticed the prices
ranged from $24.99 to
$49.99 per pair. I
thought, I could dress
up some champagne
glasses myself!
We bought these
glasses for $6.99
each and then I
bought earings
for $3.00 for
a total of
$17.00
and
then
I had
this
ribbon
at
home...
I plan
on
cutting
the tails
on an
angle
yet, but
this gives you an idea as to
what they will look like. Plus the ribbon is in our colour!

Wedding Cake

I was talking with my friend Andrea, and she asked me what a cupcake cake looked like... I wasn't exactly sure... so I decided to look at cake options....
These two are clearly not cupcake cakes,
but they have the colours and I thought they were cute.
I like how this cake alternates the chocolate and vanilla.
This one has the colours and it has the mini cake on the top for the cake cutting, which I like.
This one is so quaint and elegant looking...
Turquoise cupcakes!
This is my favourite! It has the little cake beside two tiers of the cupcakes...

And it is surrounded by cupcakes... one side vanilla the other, chocolate...
I like this idea the best and I think it would work well functionally too.
I love the idea of the moderness of cupcakes... non-traditional... it is cheaper than traditional cakes (aprox $2/serving as opposed to $5-6/serving), easier to serve, gives people options with chocolate/vanilla, and I read it is supposed to make people feel special and more connected to the wedding getting their own special little cake.

Deejay and Marriage Commisioner

Friday night Greg and I met with the Deejay that we have decided to go with. He seems really great and fun, and is the number one Deejay in Kelowna that works at Flashbacks, so I'm pretty confident he and/or his crew can throw a pretty awesome party. He took an hour and a half to answer our millions of questions, showed us the computer programs he uses and will be emailing us lots of sample playlists that can help us get a start on picking some music to incorporate. He also had lots of fun ideas to keep the reception interactive. I don't want to give them all away, but one included kids, adults, and the chicken dance :) So we have booked him and paid the deposit... one more thing planned!

Also, we met with a Marriage Commissioner on Saturday and she was amazing! Actually, we were so impressed with her that we decided right there on the spot that she is the one and she is booked. She also sat patiently and answered all of our questions, she has suggestions for us if we would like, but stressed very much about how important it is that we do what we want that day because it is our day. She will be emailing us a sample ceremony. She explained that there is one part that must be included for legal purposes, and the rest is up to us to cut and paste or add as we see fit.

Now we can work on putting together our music selection and writing our vows.
