Greg and I are excited and nervous about the big day that is literally just around the corner now. We have been busy with planning details such as:
- ordering the cake
- ordering the flowers
- making table numbers / place cards
- ordering the party favours
- arranging the rehersal
- arranging the gift opening
- I've been going to wedding dress fittings
- ordering the flower girls' dresses
- going to dress fittings for Amber's dress
- I've gone on my stagette, Greg's stag is in 2 weeks
- working on our song selection
- working on our vows
- ordering the tuxes
- etc...
We are both excited for the big day, but we are also looking forward to after the wedding and going on our honeymoon ---> Vancouver Island here we come! We'll be going camping, whale watching, driving around the island, and hiking... can't wait!

Wedding Dress Has Arrived!
After ordering my beautiful wedding dress way back in November, it has finally arrived! I went and picked it up with Andrea last weekend and it looks fab, I'm soooo excited! My veil was backordered but I was just informed today that it has now arrived also so I'll be picking it up this weekend while I am bra and shoe shopping for the dress... first dress fitting coming up in three more weeks and you have to have those items to fit the dress to.
Also, we picked up the five bridesmaids' dresses... they turned out gorgeous... and luckily the sash colour did turn out turquoise. We weren't sure from the tiny swatch of material if it was going to look blue instead of turquoise and then we would have had to remake some sashes... thank goodness we don't have to do that!
My sister-in-law Susan made us a beautiful hand stitched ring pillow - turquoise satin with white satin hydrangea leaves stitched on and a silver bow to tie the rings to. Thanks Suzy :) We are also going to start working on (this summer) little tutu dresses for Ava and Lorelei to wear at the wedding as flower girls.

Invitations & Cake Topper
Time has been flying by and now we are less than four months away until the big day! We are very excited... there are still quite a few things left to do, but we keep getting more done and it feels fantastic to cross another "to do" off the list that is currently two pages long!
I am lucky enough to have talented family members who offered to help me make my invitations... Katie my cousin and a bridesmaid and my aunt Sandra came down from Kamloops to help last weekend and we got 60 invitations done in a day!! So fabulous... that amount of work would have taken me at least three days to do on my own so I am very grateful for their help.
Here is how they turned out....
I finally found a wedding cake topper also! I had been looking at this one called "Love Birds" on weddingstar.com, but it with the cost of shipping it would have been pretty pricey. I was in Kelowna with Andrea today and we stopped at the Tickle Trunk and they happened to have the same one there much cheaper than ordering it online and shipping it.... yay... score of the day! So this will go on top of the cutting cake and I will surround it with light green hydrangea stems and maybe some pink icing flowers.

Update
We have been working away at the wedding plans. So many new things have happened! I have to start off by saying that Greg bought his wedding band yesterday... so exciting :)
We have paid our caterer and picked our food for the buffet: caesar salad, greek salad, stir fried vegetables, loaded mashed potatoes (sour cream and bacon), turkey (dark and light meat), stuffing, gravy, fresh bread, black forest torte cake, coffee, tea, non-alcoholic punch, and an 11:00pm snack of meats, cheese, and crackers.
We have met again with our DJ and came up with more specific songs for the wedding and then had a walk through with him at the Curling Club.
I bought the turquoise material to make the table runners with... so pretty! We found gorgeous vases for the flowers at Liquidation World for cheaper than the renting price. I have emailed Linden Gardens about the hydrangeas which they will do, but still need to figure out about where to get the rest of the flowers and who will make the bouquets.
We just got registered at the Bay the other night... that was fun.
We have tested cupcakes from Safeway and might do that or Marcella has offered to make them... Margaret looked into a cupcake tray for us and there are two options, one that would hold 100 cupcakes and the other would hold 300... we will probably have around 150 cupcakes, plus a small cutting cake.
Yesterday we went back to Michaels to buy a few more candles for the tables (going with more candles than flowers, much cheaper!) and found that the candles we wanted were on sale half price so we got three more dozen ... yay!
Looking forward to making my invitations next month with Susan, Katie, and Sandra... Also looking forward to making the little girl dresses for Ava and Lorelei with Susie :)
Those are the main things that have been done lately... so we keep working on it :)

Dresses Ordered
My good friend Courtney came down from Kamloops this weekend to try on the bridesmaid dress. She looked fabulous in it, like all of the girls have :) I'll just have to get her to send the pictures of her in it so I can post it on the blog...
While we were there we ordered the dresses! They will arrive in 3-4 months and then there will be alterations to have done to them. I decided to order the sashes with the dress (they come anyways) in a Capri blue which is pretty close to the right colour. If when they come in, the colour doesn't look right then we will make our own sashes with the right coloured material.
Also, my tiara had arrived at Georgie's so I took it home with me! So sparkly and girly, LOVE IT!! The lady at the store was joking I should have a bubble bath with it on so I can feel like a princess...
Today I'm going to go look at buying the fabric for the table runners from Fabric Land. The gift certificate to Fabric Land Shane and Margaret got us for Christmas will come in handy today :)

Bridesmaids' Dress
Finally I am posting the picture of the bridesmaids' dress! This is a picture with the lovely Nichole posing in the dress that I have described as ... metallicy, chromy, smokey bluey shiffon! We will be putting on handmade sashes in the colour turquoise (of course) to accent the beautiful dark colour. Note, the straps are put on with clips so the dress can be worn strapless or with the strap... I am thinking for the ceremony it will be worn strapless and then at the reception the girls can put on the straps so that they can dance around without worry of it slipping down. I love this dress, it is simple, elegant, and it fits the girls well, as well as the budget... it's a winner!
The girls (Andrea: Maid of Honour; Michelle, Courtney, Katie, and Nichole: Bridesmaids) will wear silver shoes of their own style (they pick if they want high heels or not), their hair in a style that they feel best suits them, and preferrably matching necklaces.

Wedding Dress
I bought it!!!! I went shopping with Karen on the weekend and now I have a gorgeous wedding dress, veil, and tiara on order :) I ordered the very first dress that I tried on that Margaret came with me shopping for and the most gorgeous veil (with lots of beadwork) and a sparkly tiara to go with it. I can't believe how easy it was to find this dress. It will arrive in May and then I'll have time to get the alterations done in the summer time. I'll just say it is strapless (not sure if going to have it made into a halter style or not yet), it has beadwork across the chest area, it is tafetta, and it has a long gorgeous train with beadwork down the zipper area that bunches into a bussel for dancing later. I can't wait to walk across the little bridge and through the flowers and trees at Linden Gardens to Greg :)
